Background
Born in Bradford in 1951 Robert first became interested in making jewellery whilst studying Creative Design at Loughborough University.
After a few years of teaching 3D Design he started working from home making jewellery full time.
In 1982 he started his first retail outlet called Pyramid in Gillygate, York. Then in 1984 he opened under his own name The Robert Feather Jewellery Gallery. Here Robert would design, make and sell his work alongside other established contemporary jewellers and craftspeople.
The gallery gained an excellent reputation for specializing in quality contemporary jewellery and the desire for excellence in terms of craftsmanship and design was paramount.
Desiring to concentrate more exclusively on his own work Robert closed the gallery in the summer of 2007 and now runs the business with his wife Jane from their home 12 miles south-east of York.
Robert has sold and exhibited his work at International Jewellery Trade Fairs, Goldsmiths Fair, Designer Jewellers Group exhibitions and many shops and galleries throughout the country. His work has also featured in various books and magazines.
